Brazos County Road & Bridge is requesting to advertise the reconstruction of approximately 4,300 LF beginning at the end of the Democrat Road Rail Car Replacement project and extend until it intersects Oak Lake Road.
The reconstruction of Democrat Road is necessary to address deteriorated pavement conditions, drainage deficiencies, and roadway alignment issues that currently impact safety and long-term serviceability. This segment serves as a continuation of the recently completed Railcar Replacement project, and without reconstruction, the remaining roadway would create an inconsistent corridor with ongoing maintenance burdens. The project will restore structural integrity through full-depth reclamation and stabilization, improve drainage with upgraded culverts, ditch grading, and erosion control measures, and enhance safety by recentering the roadway within the right-of-way, reconstructing driveways, and installing appropriate signage and safety features. Overall, this project provides a cost-effective, long-term solution that reduces recurring maintenance costs while improving drivability, safety, and resilience of the County’s transportation network.
