Purchasing attempted to renew the contract with the funeral home that currently performs the transportation of deceased to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Travis County.  The funeral home declined to renew based on the current contracted price that they would like to increase.  We require any renewals to continue under the same terms and conditions, including price.  We immediately began working on the solicitation to rebid this work.  Purchasing contacted the majority of the remaining funeral homes in B/CS to let them know the work was out for bid and received a unanimous response that they were not interested.  We are extending the bidding deadline so we can contact them again to encourage each of them to reconsider.  Doing so requires us to extend the current contract with the incumbent by a couple of months but they will not do so at the current rate, increasing the rate by a multiple of that rate.
